The Supreme Court has recognized the Uttar Pradesh government's submission regarding the SIT's chargesheet in the Ayodhya Ram temple donation embezzlement case. The court has allowed the local court to proceed with the trial while permitting petitioners to assist in the process. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta revealed that the investigation uncovered misappropriation of funds during the counting of donations. New Delhi, Nov 2: The Supreme Court acknowledged the Uttar Pradesh government's report regarding the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) chargesheet in the case concerning the alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ayodhya Ram temple. The court has decided to dismiss the petitions, allowing the local court to continue with the trial.

During the proceedings, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the UP government, informed a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, that the SIT's investigation revealed that funds donated to the temple were misappropriated during the counting phase.

Mehta further stated that some individuals involved in the case have invested the embezzled funds into real estate, while others have deposited the money in banks.

The bench recorded these statements and allowed the petitioners, who sought an independent investigation into the donation misappropriation, to assist the local court in the ongoing trial related to the Ram temple fund.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court clarified that it has not made any judgments regarding the merits of the embezzlement case.

Additionally, the court declined to consider a new request to ascertain whether the Ram temple is situated on land that was previously adjudicated in the main Ayodhya dispute.

On September 21, the SIT had informed the court that it would submit its initial chargesheet by September 25.
