Support for Channi at Punjab Congress Event

Fazilka (Punjab), August 4 – Amid ongoing discord within the Punjab Congress, supporters of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi rallied in his favor during a party event on Tuesday. At the gathering, some backers of Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding also voiced their support. Wadding was present at the event alongside Bhupesh Baghel, the AICC in-charge for Punjab.

Some of Channi's supporters claimed they were barred from entering the venue. In various parts of Punjab, posters targeting certain senior Congress leaders have appeared. In Muktasar, posters reading 'Baghel Go Back' were spotted, while in Ferozepur, a poster depicted Channi wearing a vest labeled 'RSS'.

The internal strife within the party escalated when Congress decided to retain Wadding as the head of the Punjab unit while appointing Channi, the MP from Jalandhar, as the chair of the party's election campaign committee. Recently, during party events, Channi's supporters have been vocal against Wadding. Nevertheless, Wadding has firmly stated that he will not resign from his position.
