In Maharashtra, a recent marriage proposal made by newly appointed Army Captain Bharat Bhardwaj during a passing-out parade has ignited discussions. While the Army may seek clarification regarding the proposal's presence on social media, several retired senior military officials have come forward to support the young captain, dismissing fears of serious security breaches and criticizing the backlash as excessive. Retired Lieutenant General H.S. Panag remarked that such situations were common during service and argued that young officers should not face undue scrutiny. He shared on social media that he encountered similar instances throughout his career and emphasized the importance of protecting the dignity and spirit of enthusiastic young officers and soldiers. He noted that he would issue general disclaimers without naming individuals or incidents when necessary.
