Introduction to the Charity Golf Event

Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary figure in Indian cricket and former captain, has unveiled the DP World Celebrity Golf Event. This charity initiative is set to gather prominent personalities from both Indian and international sports at the renowned Bombay Presidency Golf Club in Chembur, Mumbai, on Friday.


Aiding India's Sporting Icons

The primary goal of this event is to raise awareness for the CHAMPS Foundation (Caring, Helping, Assisting, Motivating, Promoting Sportsperson), which was established by Gavaskar. The foundation aims to assist former Indian athletes who are struggling financially or facing health issues. Since its launch, CHAMPS has been instrumental in providing support and dignity to those who have represented India on the global stage.


Star-Studded Lineup of Participants

The charity event will host over 100 elite participants competing on an 18-hole course. Notable Indian cricket figures such as Yuvraj Singh, G.R. Vishwanath, Venkatesh Prasad, Harbhajan Singh, Ajay Jadeja, Parthiv Patel, Murali Kartik, S. Badrinath, Murali Vijay, and Nikhil Chopra will be present. Additionally, international cricketers like Eoin Morgan, Michael Vaughan, and David Lloyd will join the event. The lineup also includes celebrated athletes from other sports, such as tennis legend Leander Paes and badminton star Prakash Padukone, along with top Indian golfers Neha Tripathi, Ridhima Dilawari, and Gaurav Ghei.
