Suchika Tariyal Advances to Semifinals

On Sunday in Nagoya, Suchika Tariyal ensured that India would earn its first medal at the Asian Games by reaching the semifinals of the women's traditional 60kg MMA (mixed martial arts) event. She triumphed over Altanchimeg Baigalmaa in a hard-fought match. Although Baigalmaa started the second round with aggressive tactics to turn the match in her favor, Suchika's solid defense withstood the pressure. As Baigalmaa continued her offensive, Suchika executed a pivotal reversal, taking her opponent down and maintaining control until the round concluded, securing her victory and a spot in the semifinals.

Strong Performance by Women's Table Tennis Team

The Indian women's table tennis team also kicked off their Asian Games journey on a high note, achieving a 3-0 victory against Indonesia in their Group F match. Sreeja Akula set the tone with a 3-1 win over N. Maharani in the first match. Following her, Diya Chitale increased India's lead by defeating A. Nebuchadnezzar 3-0. Yashaswini Ghorpade capped off the clean sweep with a 3-0 victory against C. Rasmi, marking a successful start to their Group F campaign.

Teqball Team Falls Short of Medal

Earlier in the day, India's Teqball team concluded their Asian Games journey without securing a medal. The mixed doubles team faced Vietnam in the bronze medal match but lost 0-2, with scores of 12-9 and 12-6. This defeat marked the end of India's three medal opportunities in Teqball during the sport's debut at the Asian Games.
