Ongoing Student Protests in Ranchi

For the past 16 days, students have been staging protests at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, voicing their concerns over irregularities in various competitive exams, including JPSC and JSSC. Despite their ongoing demonstrations, the government has yet to address their demands. In response to this situation, Jairam Mahto, the MLA from Dumri, has initiated a one-day hunger strike outside the assembly premises, during which he will abstain from drinking water. He has called upon all sections of society to join him in supporting the students' cause.

Serious Allegations of Exam Fraud

Jairam Mahto has highlighted the persistent issues of fraud in Jharkhand's competitive examinations, citing serious allegations such as selling exam seats, writing answers at home, and leaving OMR sheets blank to fill them in later. He has urged laborers, lawyers, traders, and farmers' organizations to take time out to support the students and participate in the hunger strike.

Call for CBI Investigation

Mahto emphasized that the government is well aware of the individuals behind these fraudulent activities. He pointed out that seats are being sold in the thousands, and it is unlikely that a low-ranking official could orchestrate such a large-scale operation alone; powerful figures must be involved. Through his hunger strike, he aims to exert pressure on the government, demanding a CBI investigation into the matter and urging the Chief Minister to engage directly with the students. He has also expressed full support for the students' decision to stage a 'gherao' of the assembly.
