Student Arrested Following Rape Allegation at IIM-Calcutta Campus
Incident Reported at IIM-Calcutta
A woman has come forward with allegations that she was raped by a student on the campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Calcutta, as confirmed by Kolkata Police on Saturday. The complaint was filed at the Haridevpur police station on Friday evening.
According to police officials, the woman stated that the assault occurred late in the evening. Following her report, authorities registered a case and apprehended the suspect. An investigation into the matter is currently in progress.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a gang-rape case involving a law student at South Calcutta Law College, which occurred two weeks prior. On June 25, a student was reportedly gang-raped within the college premises located in the Kasba area of Kolkata. The police managed to arrest the three main suspects within 12 hours of the incident, and on July 9, the Alipore Court placed all four accused in the gang-rape case under judicial custody for 14 days.
