Student Advocacy Group Demands Resignation of Education Minister Amid Exam Controversies
Call for Resignation of Education Minister
Abhijit Deepke, the founder of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), reiterated his demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday. He accused the minister of jeopardizing the futures of millions of students across the nation due to repeated irregularities in examinations.
During a press conference, Deepke emphasized that the youth of the country will no longer remain silent on issues affecting students.
He warned that if the education minister does not resign, widespread protests will ensue. He stated, "It has become clear now... the youth of this country will not be intimidated or retreat. Many students have reportedly taken their own lives due to issues related to the NEET exam."
Deepke claimed that over one crore students have been distressed due to problems associated with exams like NEET, CBSE, and CUET, and no one is willing to take responsibility for the situation.
He mentioned, "On June 6, we held a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding Dharmendra Pradhan's immediate resignation. Someone must take accountability. Those students who could have saved lives as doctors have lost theirs due to systemic failures."
Deepke's organization has set a deadline for the minister to resign by Saturday, warning that a nationwide movement will commence if he fails to do so.
He added, "If the resignation does not happen, we will initiate a nationwide movement starting from Pune. A peaceful protest is scheduled for Thursday (June 11) at 4 PM in Pune, followed by demonstrations in Lucknow, Amritsar, Jaipur, and Bengaluru."
Regarding the larger movement, he stated that if Pradhan does not step down, students from across the country will gather in Delhi on June 20. Deepke expressed, "I will personally participate in this protest and urge people to come to the national capital. If Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign, students and youth from all over will come to Delhi and will not return without his resignation."
