BJP's Confidence in Assam Elections
On Monday, Union Minister JP Nadda expressed confidence in the upcoming assembly elections in Assam, stating that there is a robust atmosphere favoring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking to a news agency in Tinsukia, Nadda emphasized that the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are receiving unanimous support from all sections of society. He highlighted the significant contributions made by Prime Minister Modi in Assam and the effective implementation of these initiatives by Himanta Biswa Sarma, which the people of Assam are welcoming.
Polling in Assam is scheduled for April 9, with the counting of votes set for May 4. Prior to this, Prime Minister Modi criticized the Congress party for prioritizing its interests and neglecting the development of Assam during its tenure. While addressing a rally in Hojai to support BJP candidate Shiladitya Dev, Modi praised the NDA government's efforts to maintain electricity supply in the district. He referred to Assam as a model state in terms of electricity and noted that the central government has allocated between ₹70,000 to ₹80,000 for solar panel installations under the PM Solar Home scheme.
Modi also accused Congress of favoring family interests over the public good. Expressing confidence in the NDA's victory in the 2026 Assam assembly elections, he stated that whether it is Hojai, East Karbi Anglong, or West Karbi Anglong, the energy from every region is evident. This atmosphere indicates that Assam is determined to achieve the greatest victory for the BJP-NDA. The development of every area is a priority for the NDA, which is why our government declared Hojai as a separate district early on. In contrast, Congress has kept Assam in distress and deprived it of development, focusing solely on its own interests while in power.
