India and Ecuador Reinforce Bilateral Relations
India and Ecuador have reaffirmed their commitment to elevate their bilateral relations. On Wednesday, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Ecuador's Foreign Minister Gabriela Somarriba Rosero, who was on an official visit to India. The high-level meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, health, and digital technology. Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister to India via a post on social media, noting that both nations discussed ways to deepen their collaboration. He also mentioned their intention to work together on multilateral platforms.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Rosero is on a three-day official visit to India and met with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on the first day of her trip. She arrived in Delhi early Wednesday morning. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal warmly welcomed Gabriela Somarriba Rosero upon her arrival in New Delhi, stating that her visit would further strengthen the ties between India and Ecuador.
As per a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday, the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister is scheduled to depart from New Delhi on May 1. In a separate post, Jaishankar mentioned addressing the 11th Heads of Missions Conference in New Delhi, emphasizing that Indian diplomacy is fully prepared to advance national interests and secure national objectives in a world marked by instability and turmoil.
Gabriela Somarriba's visit symbolizes India's growing engagement with Latin American countries. From trade to digital collaboration, both nations are moving towards a partnership that will bolster the interests of developing countries in the Global South.
