Strengthening India-Poland Relations: Key Discussions on Economic and Cultural Ties
Enhancing Bilateral Relations
On March 26, in Warsaw, India and Poland engaged in talks aimed at bolstering their political and economic connections. The discussions focused on various sectors, including electric vehicles, mining, and shipping, as well as promoting educational, cultural, and interpersonal exchanges.
The meeting featured Pooja Kapur, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Polish Secretary of State WT Bartoszewski. The dialogue reaffirmed the enduring friendly relations between the two nations, which have been strengthened through high-level political interactions.
The Indian Embassy in Poland shared on social media that the discussions emphasized the need for deeper political exchanges and economic collaboration, particularly in electric vehicles, mining, and shipping, while also leveraging the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. Additionally, they explored opportunities for defense and technology cooperation.
Earlier, Pooja Kapur met with Kinga Gajewska, a Polish MP and Chair of the Poland-India Parliamentary Group. The Indian Embassy noted her interactions with various dignitaries, including the President of the Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the CEO of Wipro Poland, to further enhance India-Poland relations.
During her visit, Kapur also paid respects at the Memorial of the Dobry Maharaja, Jamsaheb Digvijaysinhji, and the Kolhapur Memorial in Warsaw. She visited Bednarska School, where she engaged with the Director and students, who expressed gratitude for India's support and recalled the success of the Jamsaheb Memorial Youth Exchange program.
Last month, Sibi George, Secretary (West) at the MEA, met with Polish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Wladyslaw T Bartoszewski, in New Delhi to review the bilateral strategic partnership and discuss the 2024-2028 Action Plan.
India and Poland upgraded their bilateral relationship to a 'Strategic Partnership' during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Poland in 2024, agreeing on a Joint Action Plan for the next five years.
