As a result, the ice is melting, revealing new shipping routes that are attracting international attention. In response to this changing landscape, Russia has collaborated with India to formulate a strategic plan that has heightened diplomatic tensions in the region. The melting ice is paving the way for new shipping lanes, including the Northwest Passage, the Transpolar Sea Route, and the Northern Sea Route, which are expected to become significant assets for India and the world in the next 20-25 years.

India's Growing Presence

A notable aspect of this agreement is that if India and Russia reach a consensus on a significant issue, they can deploy military assets in each other's countries. This agreement allows Indian forces to utilize over 40 Russian bases, with potential deployments in strategic locations like Murmansk, which is crucial for Russia's claims in the Arctic.
