Strait of Hormuz Closed Again Amid Rising Tensions: What’s Next?
Strait of Hormuz Closure Amid Escalating Conflict
Dubai: On Saturday, Iran's military leadership announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, attributing this decision to recent Israeli military actions in Lebanon and perceived untrustworthiness from the US, which has failed to uphold its commitments to de-escalate the ongoing conflict.
The Iranian state television broadcast included a warning that further aggressive actions could lead to additional measures being taken.
Earlier this week, maritime traffic had resumed in the strait following a temporary agreement between the US and Iran.
Tragically, Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Saturday resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals, including two children, just hours after a ceasefire agreement was reported. This ongoing violence poses a significant threat to the fragile US-Iran agreement aimed at resolving the Middle Eastern conflict.
