Sri Lanka Unveils T20I Squad for Upcoming Series Against Pakistan

Sri Lanka has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, with Kusal Mendis as captain. The series kicks off on October 9 in Rawalpindi, featuring three matches. Sri Lanka's T20I Series Against Pakistan

Sri Lanka has officially announced a squad of 15 players for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, with Kusal Mendis appointed as the captain. The matches are set to take place in Rawalpindi, starting with the first game on October 9, followed by the second match on October 11, and concluding with the final match on October 13.


Squad Overview

Under Mendis's leadership, the batting lineup features players such as Mishara, Jayawardena, Udara, Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis, and Shanaka, with Wickramasinghe providing additional support, according to information from the ICC. Mendis showcased impressive form during Sri Lanka's recent tour in England, scoring a total of 198 runs across three matches, including a remarkable 121 in the second ODI.


Asian Games Participation

Sahan Arachchige, Sineth Jayawardena, and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth are also part of the Sri Lankan contingent competing in the Asian Games, where they will aim for a bronze medal against Bangladesh on October 3. The spin department will include Wellalage, Theekshana, and Viyaskanth, while the pace attack will consist of Chameera, Fernando, Thushara, and Malinga. Notably, Asitha Fernando emerged as the leading wicket-taker during the ODI series against England, claiming seven wickets.


Injury Updates

Unfortunately, Sri Lanka will be missing Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga due to injuries. However, both players are expected to return for the ODI tri-series, pending fitness evaluations.


Tour Schedule

This T20I series marks the beginning of a challenging tour that extends from October 9 to November 21. Following the T20 matches, the teams will engage in a five-match ODI tri-series that includes England, and this will be succeeded by a two-match Test series against Pakistan.
