Enhancing Train Capacity in Southern Railway
On Sunday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced plans for Southern Railway to double its train capacity by 2030 in Chennai, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), and Ernakulam (Kochi, Kerala) to meet the increasing demand.
To achieve this goal, the minister revealed a comprehensive upgrade for the coaching terminals at major Southern Railway hubs, including Chennai, Coimbatore, and Ernakulam (Kochi).
According to the Southern Railway, the minister stated, 'We are expanding coaching terminals in various cities while enhancing regional and operational capabilities to address rising demands and reduce congestion. This initiative will modernize our railway network and improve connectivity across the country.'
