New Delhi, Oct 24: Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, has made her first appearance on the social media platform X, where she shared a video previewing her upcoming book that reflects on her life and her relationship with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
In the nearly two-minute clip, she reminisced about her initial encounter with Rajiv Gandhi in Cambridge, showcasing images of the couple and the restaurant where their story began.
“My journey of love commenced in a quaint Greek restaurant in Cambridge. Rajiv and I built a life filled with love, joy, and cherished memories. On November 10, I will share that journey with you,” she expressed in her inaugural post on X.

As the video displayed various photographs, Sonia described Rajiv as both handsome and kind, recalling how their relationship blossomed after being introduced by a mutual friend.
“Upon meeting him, I sensed almost instantly that he was someone I wanted to be with. It turned out he felt the same way,” she shared.
Reflecting on her student days in England, she mentioned her challenges in finding food that suited her palate, particularly craving Italian cuisine.
“The food in England back then was quite poor. There weren't many restaurants like today,” she noted.
Eventually, she and her peers discovered the Varsity Restaurant, a Greek spot popular among European and Indian students.
“That’s where I first met Rajiv,” she recalled fondly.
The two soon became friends, enjoying each other's company at parties, sightseeing trips, and a Valentine’s Day celebration with fellow students.
“He had a gentle demeanor. While he was undeniably good-looking, it was his gentleness that truly resonated with me. That impression has stayed with me,” she reflected.
Her book, titled Belonging: A Journey of Love, captures her memories of Rajiv Gandhi and chronicles her life journey from her youth to the present day. The book is set to be released on November 10.
