Soldier Killed in Gunfight During Infiltration Attempt in Kashmir

In a tragic incident along the Line of Control in Kashmir, a soldier was killed during a gunfight while the Army attempted to thwart an infiltration by suspected militants. This marks the fourth Army casualty in just one week, highlighting the ongoing tensions in the region. The deceased soldier has been identified as Havildar Ankit Kumar. Recent operations have seen the Army engage with militants, resulting in multiple casualties. As search operations continue, the situation remains critical in Jammu and Kashmir.
 

Tragic Incident Along the Line of Control


A soldier lost his life in a gunfight on Wednesday while the Army thwarted an infiltration attempt by suspected militants near the Line of Control in Uri, located in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir.


The Army's Chinar Corps confirmed that the deceased soldier was identified as Havildar Ankit Kumar.


Officials reported that just days prior, two suspected militants were neutralized in the same region. Ongoing search operations are being conducted following the recent gunfight.


This incident marks the fourth Army casualty in Jammu and Kashmir within the past week.


On August 9, two soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, were killed, and two others sustained injuries during a confrontation with suspected militants in Kulgam district as part of a security operation known as 'Operation Akhal.'


Additionally, on Tuesday, the Army reported that another soldier, Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, was killed while on operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla.
