Sonam Wangchuk's Health Crisis During Hunger Strike

On Saturday, renowned social activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to a hospital by Delhi police due to his deteriorating health after 21 days of fasting at Jantar Mantar. His condition had become critical as a result of the prolonged hunger strike, prompting the police to act. An official statement from the police indicated that the decision was made in light of Wangchuk's declining health.

According to the police, "In compliance with the orders of the High Court and upon the advice of medical experts, Sonam Wangchuk was transported to the hospital for necessary medical care."

During the transfer, some protesters attempted to obstruct the process, leading to a brief moment of chaos. However, the police managed to handle the situation with restraint, ensuring that the operation was conducted peacefully and safely.

The Delhi police also urged the protesters to end their demonstration, stating, "We request all demonstrators at Jantar Mantar to vacate the protest site peacefully as soon as possible."

Ongoing Demands for Ladakh's Rights

Wangchuk and his supporters have been advocating for the recognition of Ladakh as a state, inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, and environmental protections. Currently, a team of doctors is monitoring his health condition in the hospital.
