Six Arrested in Nanded for Alleged Cash Distribution Attack During Local Elections

In a troubling incident during the municipal elections in Nanded, police have arrested six individuals and detained two minors after an attack on the husband of a Congress candidate. The attack, which occurred in the Bhagyanagar area, was linked to suspicions of cash distribution to voters. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings under multiple sections of the law and recovered stolen cash. This incident raises concerns about electoral integrity and the lengths to which some may go to influence voter behavior.
 

Police Action Following Election-Related Violence

In Nanded, police apprehended six individuals and took two minors into custody on Wednesday, a day after an attack on the husband of a Congress candidate running in the municipal elections, who was suspected of distributing cash to voters.


Authorities reported that the incident involved a group of six to seven people on three motorcycles who assaulted the complainant, Shivaji Bhalerao, and his friend, Dnyaneshwar Kamble, in the Bhagyanagar area on Tuesday.


The police have filed a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act. Additionally, they recovered ₹10,000 that had been stolen by the assailants.
