Site Engineer Arrested for Alleged Theft of Aluminum Cables at Noida Airport

In a significant development, a site engineer at the Noida International Airport has been arrested along with three accomplices for allegedly stealing aluminum cables worth ₹1.5 million. The police have indicated that other airport staff may also be involved in this theft. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the operation and any additional personnel who may have played a role in the crime. This incident raises concerns about security measures at the construction site of the airport.
 

Arrest Made in Airport Cable Theft Case

A site engineer working at the under-construction Noida International Airport in Jewar has been apprehended along with three accomplices for allegedly stealing aluminum cables valued at approximately ₹1.5 million. This information was disclosed by the police on Wednesday.


According to the authorities, other airport staff members are also under suspicion in connection with the theft.


Sudhir Kumar, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), reported that a team from the Ecotech-1 police station arrested the four individuals on Tuesday night, recovering seven bundles of aluminum cables, a truck with fake license plates, and a car.


Kumar indicated that the arrested site engineer, Shivam Sharma (22), played a crucial role in facilitating access to the cables for the theft, while the other suspects—driver Irshad Ahmed (23), car helper Mohammad Siraj (21), and scrap dealer Izhar alias Sonu (26)—assisted in transporting and selling the stolen materials.


Shivam Sharma hails from Aligarh, while the other three suspects are residents of Siddharthnagar district. The officer mentioned that during interrogation, the suspects revealed that the cables were stolen from within the airport premises, and some other employees stationed at the site may also be involved. Their roles are currently under investigation.
