Tournament Details

Scheduled to kick off on October 2, 2027, the tournament will feature ten teams that have already qualified for the 14-team competition. Raza, who celebrated his 40th birthday this year, views this World Cup as a pivotal moment in his career, allowing him to represent Zimbabwe on a prestigious international stage.

A Personal Milestone

Raza expressed the importance of this World Cup for him personally, especially as he nears the end of his cricketing journey. He remarked, "Every cricketer dreams of retiring after a World Cup. Having the chance to play in a home World Cup is a significant blessing for me."

Impressive Career Stats

In his 159 One Day Internationals (ODIs), Raza has accumulated 4,704 runs with an average of 37.33, including seven centuries and 26 half-centuries. He has also taken 98 wickets, showcasing his all-round capabilities as one of Zimbabwe's finest cricketers.

Tournament Structure and Preparations

Raza is enthusiastic about the tournament's format, which includes a preliminary round followed by the Super Seven phase and knockout rounds. He appreciates the efforts of Zimbabwe Cricket in organizing additional matches to prepare the national team for the World Cup.

Upcoming Matches

Zimbabwe's preparation includes a home series against Australia in September, a tri-series with Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and a three-match ODI series in India in January 2027. In the World Cup, Zimbabwe will compete in Group A against Afghanistan, Pakistan, Australia, India, and a qualifying team, starting their campaign on October 9 against the qualifier.
