Political Changes Looming in Bihar
The political landscape in Bihar is witnessing a notable shift as speculations arise regarding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's potential resignation. In light of this, the state's Home Department has issued a crucial notification concerning his security. According to the directive, even after stepping down from his position, Kumar will continue to receive Z+ category security.
The notification clarifies that under the provisions of the Bihar Special Security Act, 2000, Nitish Kumar is entitled to high-level security.
Nitish Kumar's Recent Election to Rajya Sabha
Recently, Nitish Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha and is expected to resign from his role as Chief Minister to take his seat in the upper house. Following this development, a decision was made to provide him with Z+ security after a review of his safety needs.
Understanding Z+ Security
It is important to note that VIP security is categorized from X to Z+, with Z+ being the highest level. This category includes approximately 36 security personnel, comprising police officers and over ten commandos from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Resignation from Bihar Legislative Council
Earlier this month, Nitish Kumar resigned from his position in the Bihar Legislative Council after being elected to the Rajya Sabha. His resignation has sparked speculation about who will succeed him as the new Chief Minister of the state.
Close associates of Kumar have recently indicated that constitutional provisions allow an individual to remain in the Chief Minister's role for up to six months, even if they are no longer a member of the Assembly or Legislative Council.
