Air Quality Enhancements in the National Capital Region

New Delhi, March 16: The air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) has seen a notable enhancement following a shift in weather patterns. Thanks to cooler winds and clearer skies, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has improved significantly across various areas in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

This change has brought relief to local residents, with AQI readings falling into the 'Green' and 'Satisfactory' categories at numerous locations.

As reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and related agencies, several monitoring stations in Delhi recorded 'satisfactory' AQI levels.

Specific readings included an AQI of 74 at Alipur, 92 at Ashok Vihar, 87 at Aya Nagar, and 86 at Burari Crossing. The Commonwealth Sports Complex recorded an AQI of 95, while CRRI on Mathura Road noted 72.

Conversely, some areas reported slightly elevated levels, such as Bawana (117), the Cantonment Area (116), and Chandni Chowk (117), which are categorized as 'Moderate'.

In Noida, air quality has improved across all four monitoring stations, with AQI readings of 70 in Sector-62, 90 in Sector-125, 85 in Sector-1, and 84 in Sector-116, all within the 'Satisfactory' range.

Ghaziabad also recorded better air quality, with an AQI of 80 in Indirapuram, 64 in Sanjay Nagar, and 84 in Vasundhara, all falling under the 'Satisfactory' category. However, Loni reported an AQI of 133, placing it in the 'Moderate' category.

Additionally, the Meteorological Department has forecasted clear weather for the NCR region.

The seven-day forecast for Noida indicates a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius on March 16, with predominantly clear skies expected.

Temperatures are projected to rise to 28 degrees Celsius on March 17 and 29 degrees Celsius on March 18.

However, the Meteorological Department warns of potential weather changes starting March 19.

The forecast suggests partly cloudy skies on March 19, with possible rain or thundershowers in isolated areas. Similar conditions with light rain are anticipated for March 20, while March 21 may bring generally overcast skies with light rainfall.

Experts believe that if the rain and strong winds continue, residents in the Delhi-NCR area may enjoy cleaner air in the upcoming days.
