Significant Hike in Commercial LPG Prices Across Major Cities
Impact of Price Increase on Consumers
New Delhi. Following the conclusion of assembly elections in West Bengal and several other states, the effects of inflation have begun to surface. Starting from May 1, 2026, state-owned oil companies have raised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by nearly ₹1,000. As a result, the cost of commercial LPG has surpassed ₹3,000 in various cities, including Delhi and Mumbai. However, there has been no increase in the prices of domestic gas cylinders as of now.
Price Variations Across Cities
According to data from state-owned oil companies, the price hikes for commercial LPG cylinders vary from city to city. In major metropolitan areas like Delhi, the price has surged by approximately ₹1,000 per cylinder, while cities in Uttar Pradesh have seen increases around ₹300. This disparity in pricing reflects significant differences across the country. The rise in commercial cylinder prices has dealt a blow to consumers, especially with the wedding season approaching, leading to higher costs at restaurants.
Current Rates in Major Cities
In Delhi, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹993, bringing the total to ₹3,071.50 per cylinder, as reported by Indian Oil. Meanwhile, the price of the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder remains unchanged at ₹913. Similar price hikes have been observed in other major cities as well.
In Mumbai, the cost of a commercial LPG cylinder has risen to ₹3,024 from ₹2,031, while the domestic cylinder price remains stable at ₹912.50. Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, now sees commercial LPG priced at ₹3,202, up from ₹2,208, marking an increase of around ₹990. In Jaipur, the price has reached ₹3,099, up from ₹2,031, with domestic cylinders still priced at ₹916.50. In Chennai, the price has climbed to ₹3,237 from ₹2,246.50, while the domestic cylinder is available for ₹928.50.
Price Increases in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
According to Indian Oil, in Patna, the price of a commercial cylinder has jumped from ₹2,365 to ₹3,361, while the domestic cylinder remains at ₹1,011. Various cities in Uttar Pradesh have also experienced price hikes. In Gorakhpur, the commercial cylinder now costs ₹3,255.50, with the domestic cylinder priced at ₹975. In Lucknow, the commercial cylinder has risen to ₹3,194 from ₹2,201, while the domestic cylinder is available for ₹950.50. Agra has also seen an increase, with commercial cylinder prices reaching ₹3,125.50, up from ₹2,132.5.
