Significant Growth in PM Jan Dhan Yojana Accounts and Enrollments in July
Overview of Recent Financial Initiatives
New Delhi, Aug 1: In a remarkable development, approximately 660,000 new accounts were established under the PM Jan Dhan Yojana, alongside over 2.2 million new enrollments in three Jan Suraksha Schemes within a single month, as reported by the Finance Ministry.
The Nationwide Financial Awareness Saturation Campaign, which runs from July 1 to September 30, 2025, has achieved a significant milestone in its inaugural month.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance, aims to ensure comprehensive coverage across all Gram Panchayats (GPs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), allowing every eligible citizen to benefit from these transformative programs.
The campaign's goal is to guarantee that the advantages of key schemes — including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) — reach all eligible individuals across roughly 270,000 GPs and ULBs.
In its first month, the initiative has facilitated vital community engagement through 99,753 camps held across various districts, with progress reports available for 80,462 of these camps.
"As the campaign continues, efforts will focus on saturating GPs and ULBs while enhancing community involvement, aligning with the broader vision of inclusive and sustainable development. Targeted advertisements and publicity will encourage people to visit these centers and utilize the schemes,” stated government officials.
The government is dedicated to ensuring last-mile access to banking and financial services, emphasizing active engagement from stakeholders at all levels.
As of May 21 this year, an impressive 554.4 million Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in India, with 56% belonging to women, and the total deposits have exceeded ₹2.5 trillion.
