Voter List Revision in Sikkim

Gangtok, August 7 - During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Sikkim, a total of 37,724 names were removed from the draft voter list due to the non-submission of enumeration forms. This information was provided by an official on Friday. Prior to the SIR, Sikkim had 471,018 registered voters, out of which 433,294 enumeration forms were received and recorded digitally.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Raj Kumar Yadav, stated that approximately 77 percent of voters were successfully matched with the 2002 voter list during this door-to-door campaign. According to officials, around 125,822 notices were issued, with 105,821 of those successfully delivered. Additionally, hearings have been completed for 75,243 cases to verify the eligibility and documents of voters whose records required examination.

The deadline for filing claims and objections was set for August 4, and the final publication of the voter list is scheduled for September 6.
