Shubman Gill's Impressive Form

After achieving a record-setting double century in the second ODI against the West Indies, Indian captain Shubman Gill is set to make his One-Day International debut at New Chandigarh's Mullanpur Stadium, a prominent venue in Punjab.

Gill previously scored a solid 110 in the first ODI while chasing a target of 299 runs. However, he truly shone in Guwahati, where he recorded the fastest double century in ODI history, finishing with an unbeaten 223 runs off just 133 balls, including 26 fours and eight sixes.

Gill's Performance at Mullanpur Stadium

In his international career, Gill has participated in only one Test and one T20I at New Chandigarh. He was dismissed for a duck against South Africa last December but later showcased his talent with a remarkable 126 against Afghanistan in a one-off Test held at the same venue earlier this year.

In T20 matches at this stadium, Gill has played five games, accumulating 179 runs with an average of 35.80 and a strike rate nearing 160. His performance includes a century, scoring 104 against Rajasthan Royals in IPL Qualifier 2 this year. Overall, he has amassed 305 runs in six matches at the venue, averaging 50.83 with two centuries.

Chasing the 4,000-Run Milestone at Home

The upcoming third ODI against the West Indies offers Gill a chance to reach a significant milestone of 4,000 runs across all formats at home. He has been a consistent performer in home conditions, having scored 3,957 runs in 65 matches and 79 innings, boasting an impressive average of 57.34 and a strike rate exceeding 87. His record includes 15 centuries and 17 fifties, with a top score of 223*.
