Shreyas Iyer Climbs ICC T20I Rankings After Historic Century
Shreyas Iyer's Remarkable Rise in T20I Rankings
Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Indian cricket team, has made a significant leap in the ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings, thanks to his first-ever T20I century. This achievement has propelled him into the top 10 for the first time in his career.
During the opening match of India's five-match series against the West Indies in Lucknow, Iyer scored an impressive hundred, resulting in an 18-place ascent in the rankings, which are updated weekly by the ICC. The 31-year-old batsman now holds the seventh position among T20I players, marking a notable career milestone.
With this rise, India boasts four players in the top 10 of the T20I rankings: Ishan Kishan leads the list, followed by Abhishek Sharma at second, Iyer at seventh, and Tilak Varma at tenth. This highlights India's formidable batting lineup as the current ICC Men's T20 World Cup champions.
Significant Changes in T20I Bowling Rankings
The T20I bowling rankings also saw notable shifts. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan regained the top position from Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed after the Asian Games in Japan. Additionally, three new bowlers entered the top 10 during a busy week for T20 cricket.
Indian spinner Axar Patel climbed 16 places to reach seventh, while Bangladesh's Nasum Ahmed moved up three spots to eighth, and Mahedi Hasan jumped ten positions to ninth.

West Indies captain Shai Hope advanced two places to sixth after scoring 162 in the series finale, while Indian veteran KL Rahul climbed seven spots to share the tenth position.
Additionally, explosive West Indies batsman Amir Jangoo surged from outside the top 100 to 55th place, and teammate Jayden Seales moved up 12 slots to tenth among ODI bowlers, achieving a new career-high rating after taking four wickets in the series against India.
