Shocking Reason Behind Wedding Cancellation in Uttar Pradesh
A Bizarre Wedding Incident
In India, it is not uncommon for marriages to break down due to dowry issues, but there are other surprising reasons as well. Recently, an unusual case has emerged involving betel nut, which is typically known for its health risks. You might wonder how betel nut relates to marriage, but the connection is indeed startling.
In a shocking incident from Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, a couple's wedding was called off due to the groom's intoxication and his consumption of betel nut. Upon witnessing the groom inebriated and chewing gutkha, the bride refused to go through with the marriage.
The groom attempted to persuade the bride to change her mind, but she remained resolute. According to Shailendra Singh, the officer in charge of Maniyar police station, the bride from Mishrauli village was set to marry a young man from Khejuri village. However, when the wedding procession arrived and she saw the groom chewing gutkha, she immediately declined to marry him.
Despite the groom's efforts to convince her for hours, the bride stood firm in her decision. Following the cancellation, both families decided to return the gifts exchanged earlier. The wedding was scheduled for June 5, but the groom's addiction to gutkha and intoxication led to the abrupt end of the marriage plans. This isn't the first instance; a similar case occurred in Hamirpur district where a wedding was also called off due to gutkha consumption. This raises a new slogan: 'Avoid gutkha, or your relationship might end before it even begins.'
