Brutal Crime in Lucknow

A horrifying incident has emerged from the Nishatganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a daughter-in-law brutally murdered her 69-year-old mother-in-law, Nirmala Devi, due to her interference in an illicit relationship. This shocking event occurred on Saturday afternoon, and the victim was found with her hands and feet bound, causing a stir in the neighborhood. The police have detained the main suspect, the daughter-in-law named Ranjana.

Nirmala Devi was a retired employee from the secretariat and lived with her son Tridesh, daughter-in-law Ranjana, and grandchildren in Gali No. 3 of Nishatganj. The incident took place around 4 PM on Saturday. Her grandson, Aditya, who works as a delivery boy, returned home to find the door locked. After managing to enter, he discovered his grandmother's lifeless body in a room, with her hands and feet tied and visible marks on her neck.

Hearing Aditya's screams, a tenant named Pintu Maurya rushed downstairs and immediately informed the police and Nirmala Devi's son, Tridesh, who was on duty as a contractual worker for the electricity department at the time.

Suspicious Behavior and Illicit Affair

Upon the police's arrival, initial investigations pointed towards Ranjana's suspicious behavior. During questioning, it was revealed that Ranjana was involved in an extramarital affair. Nirmala Devi was aware of this relationship and had been opposing it consistently. To eliminate this obstacle, Ranjana allegedly conspired with her lover to murder her mother-in-law.

At the time of the incident, Ranjana and her younger daughter were present in the house, while her elder daughter had gone to her maternal home in Unnao. The police have taken Ranjana into custody based on suspicion and are conducting thorough interrogations.

Police Action and Investigation

The Lucknow police have seized the body and sent it for autopsy. A forensic team has collected fingerprints and other crucial evidence from the crime scene. Authorities are now searching for Ranjana's alleged lover, who is believed to have assisted in carrying out this heinous act. Neighbors described Nirmala Devi as the head of the family, who took care of the entire household. Her death has left the family and the neighborhood in mourning.
