A Disturbing Incident Unfolds in Chandrapur

A deeply unsettling incident has emerged from Chandrapur district in Maharashtra, where a daughter, in collusion with her lover, allegedly poisoned her father to death. This horrifying plot remained concealed for three years. Following the murder of her father, a head constable, the daughter joined the police force in his place, only for the truth to be revealed by her own lover.

On March 23, a police complaint was filed by Ashish Mahesh Shedmake, a resident of Bhadravati, against his girlfriend Arya Jayant Ballawar, a female police officer, accusing her of murdering her father, head constable Jayant Ballawar, by administering poison. Reports indicate that Ashish and Arya had been in a relationship for a long time. When Arya's father discovered their affair, he opposed it, leading to escalating tensions and ultimately a sinister conspiracy.

The Poisoning Plot

As part of their murder plan, Ashish enlisted the help of a minor relative to procure poison. Subsequently, they contacted 22-year-old Chaitanya alias Monty Sachin Gedam, who delivered the poison in a glass bottle on April 24, 2023, for a payment of 5,000 rupees.

The following day, on April 25, Arya mixed the poison into her father's milkshake and served it to him. After consuming the tainted drink, Jayant Ballawar went to work but soon fell ill and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Initially, the police treated it as an accidental death, and Arya provided misleading information, causing the case to go cold.

Investigation and Arrests

It is alarming that the investigation lacked the necessary rigor, partly due to Arya's connection to the police department. Evidence revealed that the couple had been involved since 2022, culminating in the murder in 2023. They remained together for one to two years, but as disputes arose, Ashish ultimately disclosed the truth.

Reports indicate that both Ashish and Arya were recruited into the Chandrapur police department in 2025, with their training recently completed. The Ramnagar police have filed charges against Ashish Mahesh Shedmake, Arya Jayant Ballawar, Chaitanya alias Monty Sachin Gedam, and a minor under sections 120 (B), 302, 201, and 34 of the IPC. All suspects have been apprehended, and the court has ordered a one-day police custody.
