Motiari (East Champaran), March 30, 2026: A horrifying incident has emerged from Bihar's Motihari, revealing a chilling story of love and vengeance. A 22-year-old final year BA student, Shilpi Kumari, allegedly set her boyfriend Nitish's grandfather on fire, killing him, and subsequently murdered a 5-year-old girl, Anshika Kumari, who she claimed was an obstacle in her relationship. Following the murders, she reportedly went to a temple to pray and was planning a grand ritual to eliminate the entire family.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, Shilpi Kumari resided in the Chiraiya police station area of Motihari. She was in love with a neighbor, Nitish, but faced opposition from his family, particularly from his grandfather. Angered by this, Shilpi decided to take revenge.

Initially, she set Nitish's grandfather ablaze. When 5-year-old Anshika, whom she referred to as her adopted sister, began to interfere, Shilpi decided to eliminate her as well.

Murder of Anshika

Shilpi murdered the young girl by slitting her throat. After the body was discovered, the police launched an investigation and apprehended Shilpi. During questioning, she confessed to both murders with a chilling calmness.

Shocking Confession

Shilpi revealed that she had ordered a knife online to execute her plan.
After the murders, she went directly to the temple to pray.
Her intention was to kill the entire family and conduct a grand ritual to marry Nitish without any hindrance.
In a surprising twist, Shilpi admitted to having committed 18 various crimes prior, including two murders, theft, and arson.
