Basti: In a shocking incident from the Munderwa police jurisdiction, authorities have apprehended a woman accused of locking her partner in a room and setting it ablaze. The suspect, Kanti Chaudhary, was captured at the Munderwa railway station.


According to police reports, Ramchandra Gupta, a resident of Barhua village, had been living with Kanti Chaudhary as a couple without marriage for the past four years. On the night of May 1, a dispute arose between them, leading Kanti to ignite a fire in the room and flee, locking the door behind her. Ramchandra suffered severe burns as a result.


Following the incident, family members rushed him to BRD Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of May 6. The case gained significant attention after his death, prompting police to intensify their search for the accused by adding section 103(1) BNS to the charges.


Under the leadership of Station Officer Pradeep Kumar Singh, the Munderwa police team successfully arrested the woman at the railway station. Authorities have stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and a charge sheet will be filed soon.
