Arrest Made in Basti Fire Incident


Basti: In a shocking turn of events, police have apprehended a woman accused of setting her partner on fire in the Munderva police jurisdiction. The suspect, Kanti Chaudhary, was arrested at the Munderva railway station.


According to police reports, Ramchandra Gupta, a resident of Barhua village, had been living with Kanti Chaudhary as a couple without marriage for the past four years. On the night of May 1, a dispute arose between them, leading Kanti to set fire to the room and flee, locking the door from outside. Ramchandra suffered severe burns in the flames.


Following the incident, family members rushed him to BRD Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of May 6. The case gained significant attention after his death, prompting police to intensify their search for Kanti, adding Section 103(1) BNS to the charges.


Under the leadership of Station Officer Pradeep Kumar Singh, the Munderva police team successfully captured the accused at the railway station. Authorities have stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and a charge sheet will be filed soon.
