Shocking Human Trafficking Case Uncovered in Uttar Pradesh
Overview of the Incident
A disturbing case of human trafficking has emerged from Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh, where a 16-year-old girl from Jharkhand was sold for just ₹25,000. The police managed to trace the girl, leading to the revelation of this shocking incident.
Details of the Case
The victim hails from Chakradharpur in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. After her disappearance, her family searched tirelessly for her, unaware that she had fallen prey to a broker and a buyer in a ₹25,000 deal.
According to Avadhesh Kumar, the officer in charge of Chakradharpur police station, the girl was on her way to school with her elder sister on January 20 of this year when they had an argument. In a fit of anger, she left her sister and headed towards the Chakradharpur railway station.
The Broker's Deception
The broker, who had been watching the girl at the railway station, lured her with promises of a better future, good job opportunities, and a prosperous life in Uttar Pradesh. He took her to Inayatpur in Sitapur district by train, where he contacted an accomplice, Sandeep Kumar, to finalize the deal. Sandeep even mortgaged his land to pay for the girl, ultimately purchasing her for ₹25,000.
Victim Held Captive
The young girl was held captive for nearly two and a half months, during which she endured not only physical abuse but also repeated instances of sexual assault and torment. Police reports indicate that she bore numerous scars and burn marks on her body, indicating the severe trauma she experienced. When she failed to return home, her mother and sister searched relentlessly for her. After exhausting all options, they filed a missing person report at the Chakradharpur police station on April 2.
Police Investigation and Rescue
Based on technical surveillance and confidential tips, the police tracked the girl's location to Sitapur district. They conducted a raid in Inayatpur, successfully rescuing her from the clutches of the two accused. Both the buyer, Sandeep Kumar, and the broker, Kishori Lal Kuiry, were arrested. They have since been remanded to judicial custody. The victim is now back with her family, and authorities are awaiting her medical report to confirm the sexual assault, which may lead to more severe charges being filed.
