This incident took place in Gurudaspur, where a woman had married about eight months ago. Initially, everything seemed fine, but soon after moving in with her in-laws, she faced intense pressure regarding dowry. According to village head Harpreet Singh, his uncle's daughter, Manjeet Kaur, was married to Simran. Manjeet's father had provided dowry as per his means, which led to the in-laws agreeing to the marriage. The wedding was celebrated with great pomp.


However, after the marriage, Manjeet's in-laws began to harass her for more dowry. Reports indicate that she was subjected to physical abuse regularly. Her father, Harpreet, revealed that the in-laws frequently contacted him, demanding either the return of his daughter or additional dowry payments. Shockingly, the man Manjeet married is employed in the army, yet he pressured both her and her father for dowry.


Neighbors reported that Manjeet's husband had returned home just two days prior. After a confrontation with his wife, he left for duty again. The following day, their daughter called, claiming her in-laws were assaulting her and threatening her life if help did not arrive soon. Alarmed, her father rushed to her in-laws' house.


Upon arrival, Harpreet was horrified to find his daughter's lifeless body in the lobby of the house. He immediately informed the police, who arrived to secure the body and subsequently filed a case against the in-laws. It is reported that since the case was registered, the in-laws have fled.
