Shocking Case of Sexual Assault in Kerala Involves 64 Suspects
Disturbing Incident Uncovered in Kerala
A horrifying incident has emerged from Kerala, where a young female athlete has reportedly been sexually assaulted by 64 individuals. The police have detained 15 suspects for questioning in connection with this case.
This shocking revelation has left authorities in disbelief. Initially, six individuals were arrested for the assault, and subsequently, nine more were taken into custody. As of Saturday, the police confirmed that a total of 15 suspects are now being interrogated. The arrests followed the filing of five complaints across two police stations in the Pathanamthitta district.
Investigators have uncovered evidence indicating that the assaults involved not only the girl's coach but also fellow athletes and classmates. According to the victim's statements, she used her father's mobile phone to communicate with the suspects. After verifying details from the phone records and the diary she maintained, authorities identified 40 individuals linked to the case. There are suspicions that over 60 people may be involved, prompting multiple complaints to be filed at various police stations in Pathanamthitta.
A senior police official noted that these incidents occurred while the girl was still a minor, leading to charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has indicated that individuals from outside Pathanamthitta may also be implicated. According to the CWC chairperson, the girl has been a victim of repeated assaults since she was 13 years old.
The police have referred the girl for intensive counseling with a psychologist. The CWC chairperson mentioned that several phone numbers of suspected perpetrators were found on the girl's father's phone. Authorities have recorded a total of five complaints related to the assaults, with more expected as the investigation continues. This case came to light during counseling sessions conducted by the Child Welfare Committee, after teachers reported noticeable changes in the girl's behavior.
Following this, the committee alerted the police, who initiated an investigation. A special investigation team, led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Pathanamthitta, has been formed to delve deeper into the case.
