Shocking Case of Rape and Murder in Delhi Raises Serious Concerns
Tragic Incident in the Capital
A disturbing case has emerged in Delhi, where the 22-year-old daughter of an IRS officer was raped and murdered, raising significant concerns about the city's law enforcement. Reports indicate that a 23-year-old man named Rahul Meena is accused of committing heinous acts at two different locations within just 12 hours. Initially, he allegedly attempted to rape and murder a woman in Alwar, Rajasthan, before moving on to another young woman in Delhi.
Details of the Crime
According to police, the sequence of events began on Tuesday night in Alwar. The victim was home alone with her two children while her husband attended a wedding in the village. Around 10:30 PM, the suspect knocked on the door. Upon the woman opening it, he forcibly entered, restrained her, and assaulted her. He also inflicted multiple injuries and attempted to strangle her. After the attack, he threatened her, warning that he would harm her husband and children if she reported the incident. Following the assault, the woman immediately contacted her husband, and they filed a police report. The Superintendent of Police in Alwar confirmed that an investigation was initiated upon receiving the complaint.
Suspect's Escape and Further Crimes
Meanwhile, Delhi police reached out to their counterparts in Alwar, revealing that the same suspect had committed another serious crime in Delhi. After the incident in Alwar, he traveled to Delhi, where he stopped an ambulance and asked the driver to take him to the city, promising payment. However, he fled without paying midway through the journey.
Investigations revealed that the suspect sold three mobile phones belonging to himself and his brother for approximately ₹13,000 while en route. He then arrived at Kailash Hills in South Delhi, targeting a house where he had previously worked as a domestic employee. The residence was equipped with security measures, including CCTV cameras and locked doors on every floor. Police noted that the suspect was familiar with the home's access codes, allowing him to unlock several doors with ease, indicating premeditation.
CCTV Footage and Arrest
CCTV footage captured the suspect entering the house wearing a yellow shirt and black pants, but he was seen leaving in white pants with a black bag. This raised suspicions about his involvement in the crime. Once police suspected he was the former employee who had been dismissed nearly a year prior, they formed around fifteen teams to apprehend him, conducting raids across multiple states including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Eventually, police tracked down a mobile number linked to the suspect, known only to a few close acquaintances. This led them to his location in the Palam Dwarka area, where he was arrested at a hotel around 6 PM the same day. Investigations revealed that the suspect had a history of addiction to online gaming, alcohol, and drugs, and had recently accumulated significant debts, which may have motivated his crimes.
Victim's Family and Circumstances
Reports indicate that the suspect was seen near the victim's residence early Wednesday morning. A local shopkeeper recalled asking him why he was in the area, given that he had been fired. The suspect claimed he was looking for work. Around 6 AM, several drivers recognized him and questioned his presence.
The victim's parents had left for the gym at 6 AM, and the suspect, aware of their routine, unlocked the digital lock to enter the home. Upon returning, the family discovered the victim deceased in her room. She was preparing for the UPSC examination and was alone at the time of the incident. Preliminary investigations indicated she had been sexually assaulted and strangled with a mobile phone charger cable. The suspect also attempted to rob the house, dragging the unconscious victim from the study room to access a digital safe using her fingerprints, but was unsuccessful.
Aftermath and Investigation
After the crime, the suspect changed his blood-stained clothes on-site and fled wearing the victim's brother's clothing. Investigations revealed he had detailed knowledge of the family's daily routine and the house's layout, allowing him to directly access the room where the victim was attacked. During questioning, he admitted to initially trying to strangle her but resorted to using a heavy object when she resisted, causing her severe injuries.
CCTV footage showed him leaving the premises around 7 AM in different clothing with a bag. When the victim's parents returned around 8 AM, they found her in a bloodied state, highlighting the horrific nature of the incident. This case not only underscores the severity of crime but also illustrates how personal information can be exploited for such heinous acts. Police are currently interrogating the suspect to uncover any additional motives or conspiracies.
