Shocking Allegations: BJP Councillor's Son Arrested in South Goa Sex Scandal Involving Minors
Arrest Sparks Outrage in South Goa
Panaji: In the early hours of Monday, South Goa Police apprehended 20-year-old Soham Sushant Naik amid escalating public outrage regarding a disturbing sex scandal involving 25 to 30 underage girls. Naik, who hails from Madegal-Cacora and is the son of a BJP municipal councillor, was taken into custody following a protest by local residents and leaders outside the police station.
The investigation has revealed a troubling pattern of abuse that allegedly spans three years. Initial reports indicate that Naik engaged in sexual activities with multiple minors, recording these encounters and using the footage to intimidate the victims into silence.
The scandal first emerged last week when Naik reportedly bragged about his actions at a social event, displaying explicit videos of the victims to his friends. As rumors of the recordings circulated throughout South Goa, tensions among the community escalated.
Prior to the arrest, discussions about the case had been ongoing in South Goa for several days. Concerned citizens gathered at the Kudchade police station on Sunday night, demanding action due to the involvement of a local BJP councillor's son. Ultimately, police detained Soham Naik.
The arrest followed an incident where Naik shared videos with friends during a drinking party, leading to the exposure of years of alleged sexual abuse against minors.
On Sunday, residents of Churchorem marched to the police station, insisting on a thorough investigation into the alleged sex racket involving minors.
Protesters threatened to initiate a bandh if law enforcement did not act swiftly and arrest the accused within 48 hours. They also called for the police to file a suo motu FIR instead of waiting for victims to come forward.
Amit Patkar, the state Congress president, urged the government to take immediate action, demanding a prompt, impartial, and time-sensitive inquiry into this horrific case.
Currently, the South Goa Police are examining digital evidence to assess the extent of the exploitation of the minor girls by Soham Sushant Naik.
Soham Sushant Naik remains in custody as forensic teams work to retrieve the alleged videos used for blackmailing the minors.
