Shivraj Singh Chouhan Highlights Assam's Transformation and Development Initiatives

Significant Changes in Assam's Landscape

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the notable progress in Assam over recent years, particularly in areas such as security, infrastructure, and emerging industrial capabilities, including its potential as a semiconductor hub. During his visit to the state, he recalled that previous parliamentary committee visits faced challenges due to security issues in various regions. He noted that the atmosphere of fear that once hindered movement has significantly diminished, reflecting a broader transformation in the state's overall condition.

Support for BJP Candidate and Development Schemes

While addressing a rally in support of BJP candidate Bhavesh Kalita, Chouhan stated that initiatives like the 'Arunoday Scheme' and 'Ladli Behna Scheme' are not merely for votes but aim to provide true justice to half the population. He questioned why the Congress party is troubled by their efforts to provide economic assistance to women, highlighting that they have never taken such initiatives. He reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that no poor individual in Assam lives in a temporary structure, promising permanent homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.

Land Rights for Tea Garden Workers

Chouhan pointed out that tea garden workers in Assam previously lacked land leases. He criticized Congress for failing to grant them land ownership. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for providing land ownership rights to these workers. He assured that they would also receive permanent housing under PMAY-G. He announced that a new era of employment is beginning in Assam, with Sarma having facilitated government jobs for 165,000 youth without discrimination. He assured that this trend of job creation would continue.

Future Employment Opportunities and Critique of Opposition

Chouhan mentioned that alongside job creation, new employment opportunities would arise with significant investments, including semiconductor hubs and factories, which would also generate jobs. Criticizing the opposition, he stated that the Congress party in Assam is controlled by two individuals—a king and a prince—who are at odds with each other and do not engage with their workers. He accused Congress of committing five major sins against Assam: attempting to hand over Assam to Pakistan during partition, neglecting the state during the Chinese invasion, allowing infiltrators to take over Assam's water, land, and forests, creating voter IDs for infiltrators for electoral gains, and suppressing democracy during the Assam movement by firing on children.
