In a pivotal development regarding the shocking murder of school owner Manisha Mittal, authorities in Shimla have apprehended her brother, Himank Mittal, along with his associate, Govind, for allegedly orchestrating the contract killing linked to a protracted property dispute.

According to police reports, the suspects are believed to have engaged two shooters to carry out the assassination of Manisha Mittal, who was fatally shot outside her Saraswati Paradise School in Sanjauli on June 13. The two shooters had already been taken into custody earlier in the investigation.

Investigators revealed that Himank Mittal, in collaboration with Govind, devised the plan for the murder and arranged for contract killers to execute it. It is alleged that Govind supplied a vehicle to transport the shooters to Shimla before attempting to flee the country to avoid capture. He has since been arrested, while Himank was detained in Rohtak.

During a press briefing, Shimla's Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mehar Kaur stated that Govind has been placed in police custody for four days for further questioning. Himank Mittal, who is reportedly in poor health, was also arrested in Rohtak and is undergoing legal proceedings.

Authorities believe the motive for the murder stemmed from a long-standing dispute over the ownership of the school property. Manisha, originally from Rohtak and married in Rewari, had been managing the Saraswati Paradise School in Shimla after inheriting the property from her father. Reports indicate that her brother had been embroiled in a legal and familial conflict with her regarding the property for nearly five years.

Sources within the police have indicated that Manisha had previously voiced concerns about her safety. However, following her death, Himank released a video asserting that he had not been in contact with his sister for the last 16 years.

For the past few years, Manisha had been residing with her daughter on the school grounds. On the evening of June 13, two armed individuals reportedly confronted her at the school entrance and shot her at close range before escaping. The incident, captured on CCTV, sent shockwaves throughout Himachal Pradesh.

With the arrests of the alleged masterminds and the shooters, Shimla Police are confident they have made significant progress in solving this high-profile murder case. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover any additional individuals who may have been involved in the conspiracy.
