Indian para-athlete Shilpa Shyla has been awarded the bronze medal in the women's shot put F57 category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. This upgrade came after Nigeria's Eucharia Iyiazi was disqualified following an official review, marking India's first double podium finish at the Glasgow Games. Initially, Shilpa placed fourth with a personal best throw of 7.26 meters, but the disqualification allowed her to ascend to the podium, as reported by ESPN.

The updated results show that fellow Indian athlete Sharmila Dhankar retained the gold medal with a season-best throw of 9.81 meters, while Ghana's Zinabu Issah secured the silver with a throw of 8.65 meters.

With this bronze medal, India's overall medal tally at the Games has reached 10, comprising two gold, five silver, and three bronze medals. Shilpa's achievement is not just a victory in sports but also a testament to her resilience and determination.

Hailing from Kanchigara Koppalu village in Mysuru district, Shilpa faced a life-changing event at the age of four when she lost her left leg due to a truck accident.
