Shikhar Dhawan Celebrates National Sports Day with a Passionate Message
A Celebration of Sports and Learning
New Delhi: On National Sports Day, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan took to Instagram to express his love for sports, emphasizing the joy and lessons learned through various activities. He shared a motivational mantra: 'the more you play, the more you learn, the more you win.'
In a series of captivating images, Dhawan showcased his engagement in multiple sports, including cricket, football, pool, horse riding, and pickleball, highlighting his enthusiasm for staying active.
He captioned his post with, 'Jitna kheloge, utna seekhoge… jitna seekhoge, utna jeetoge! Aap kaunsa sport khelte ho?'
The essence of Dhawan's message was simple yet impactful, illustrating how sports impart valuable life lessons. He reminded everyone that each game played contributes to personal development and resilience.
His post struck a chord with fans, not only due to the vibrant visuals but also because of the overarching message that sports extend beyond mere competition; they foster discipline, teamwork, and self-exploration.
National Sports Day, celebrated every year on August 29 in honor of hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand, serves as a reminder of the unifying and uplifting power of sports.
Initially observed in 1995 and gaining national prominence in 2012, National Sports Day has become a platform to reinforce India's dedication to health, fitness, and sporting excellence. The Fit India Movement, launched in 2019, has further transformed this day into a nationwide fitness initiative.
This year, the Fit India Mission is leading the celebrations with a three-day campaign from August 29 to 31, themed 'Ek Ghanta, Khel ke Maidan Main' (One Hour on the Playground). This initiative encourages individuals of all ages to commit at least an hour to physical activity and sports.
Dhawan, who concluded his cricket career in August last year after an impressive tenure spanning over a decade, has participated in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, amassing 2315, 6793, and 1579 runs respectively across these formats.
