Celebrating Ishant Sharma's Milestone Birthday

On Wednesday, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan shared warm birthday greetings for Ishant Sharma, who reached the age of 38. Ishant, a key figure in India's Test cricket success during Virat Kohli's captaincy, last represented the national team in 2021.


Dhawan took to his X account to express his wishes, stating, "Happy Birthday, @ImIshant! Wishing you a fantastic year ahead. Have a great one, bro!"



The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also joined in the celebrations, posting their own birthday message on their official X handle.


They highlighted Ishant's impressive career stats: 199 international matches, 434 wickets, and being a 2013 ICC Champions Trophy winner. Their tweet read: "Here's wishing Ishant Sharma a very happy birthday! #TeamIndia | @ImIshant".


Ishant Sharma's Impressive Career Achievements

Ishant Sharma made his Test debut in 2007 and has since played 105 Test matches, claiming 311 wickets at an average of 32.40. His career includes 11 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul, with his best bowling figures being 7/74. He ranks as India's sixth-highest wicket-taker in Tests and the second-most successful fast bowler after Kapil Dev.


In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Ishant has participated in 80 matches, taking 115 wickets at an average of 30.98, including six four-wicket hauls and best figures of 4/34.


In the T20 format, he has played 14 matches, securing eight wickets at an average of 50.00, with his best performance being 2/34.


Overall, Ishant has achieved 434 wickets across 199 international appearances, making him the 10th highest wicket-taker for India in international cricket.


He was instrumental in India's 2013 ICC Champions Trophy victory, where he took 10 wickets in five matches at an average of 21.80, with his best figures being 3/33. Notably, he delivered a crucial spell of 2/36 in the rain-affected final against England, taking two key wickets in consecutive deliveries.
