Excitement Surrounds World Archery Para Series 2026

Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi expressed her excitement regarding the World Archery Para Series 2026 taking place in India. She highlighted that this event offers local athletes a chance to compete on their home turf while also providing newcomers with invaluable experience.

This marks the inaugural occasion that India is hosting the World Archery Para Series. The opening ceremony occurred in Ahmedabad on Friday, with the competition set to unfold from September 5 to 9. Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the event via video link.

Sheetal shared her joy about participating in an archery tournament in India for the first time, stating, "It brings immense joy that we are hosting an archery tournament here. We will have the opportunity to compete, and new athletes will also get their chance. Previously, we always traveled abroad for competitions, but this time it's happening here, which feels wonderful. It’s a unique experience to see this event in our country for the first time, and I am very happy."

Amit Shah Discusses India's Sports Aspirations

During the inauguration, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that India's sporting ambitions extend beyond merely achieving high medal counts. He stressed the importance of enhancing performance in significant international competitions like the Olympics and Asian Games. Shah mentioned that India is striving to become a global center for modern sports infrastructure, training facilities, and sports equipment, while also advancing in sports engineering and medical science.

"India's objective is not solely to secure the most medals but to strengthen its position in international events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, and Police Games," he remarked.

"The coaching and training facilities at the sports center hosting this archery competition will be developed to meet international standards. This center is poised to become a key training hub for athletes from India and around the globe. In the near future, India will rapidly establish itself as a leader in sports engineering and medical science, becoming a significant medical center for treating and rehabilitating sports injuries," Amit Shah added.

"In the coming years, India will evolve into a hub for training facilities and modern sports infrastructure, while also becoming a major center for sports equipment production. We are consistently progressing towards making India a prominent player in the global sports arena," he concluded.
