Kerala is scheduled to hold elections in a single phase on April 9, with vote counting for the 140-member Assembly set for May 4. The current Assembly's term concludes on May 23.
The state has around 2.70 crore registered voters, comprising 1.31 crore male voters, 1.38 crore female voters, and 277 voters identifying as third gender.
These upcoming elections are pivotal for the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), as Kerala is the only state in India currently under Left governance. The political landscape in the state has historically alternated between the LDF and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is emerging as a formidable contender, significantly increasing its vote share in recent elections.
