Shashank Singh Responds to Assault Allegations Amid Legal Controversy
Cricketer Shashank Singh Addresses FIR Filed Against Him
Shashank Singh, a batter for Punjab Kings, has spoken out following the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against him and his father, a Mumbai police officer, by their cook in Bhopal. The cook, Vipendra Singh Tomar, has made serious accusations including wrongful confinement and assault.
Tomar alleges that the conflict arose from issues related to food at Singh's residence in Bhopal. The FIR was lodged at the Ratibad Police Station, drawing significant media attention and prompting Singh to publicly address the claims for the first time.
Shashank Singh Denies Assault Claims
In response to the allegations, Shashank Singh firmly rejected the accusations during an interview. He stated that while Tomar was employed as a cook, he lacked the necessary skills and instead spent his time taking photos and recording videos around the house.
"We did not hold him hostage. He came here claiming to be a cook, but he wasn't capable of cooking. He was just here to have fun, taking videos and photos, even entering my room," the 34-year-old explained.
Singh expressed concern that Tomar might have had ulterior motives, suggesting that he suspected theft, although nothing appeared to be missing.
Legal Investigation Underway
The allegations have led to a legal investigation, with Tomar maintaining that he experienced physical assault and wrongful confinement while working for Singh. The situation has sparked considerable outrage in Bhopal, with many expressing concern over the serious nature of the claims.
In a separate interview, Singh revealed that the situation escalated after his family discovered troubling footage on Tomar's phone. He noted that Tomar had been taking photos and videos without permission, which raised suspicions about his intentions.
Concerns Over Cook's Background
Singh further disclosed that during a background check, his family found that Tomar had a history of substance abuse, having been caught using drugs in Rewa. He described Tomar as appearing disoriented upon arrival at their home.
"He had a history of drug use, and my family noticed he seemed unwell when he came in the morning," Singh stated.
The cricketer and his family plan to pursue legal action against Tomar for trespassing, invasion of privacy, and extortion, while fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
