Shardul Thakur Out for Ranji Trophy Match

Mumbai's star all-rounder, Shardul Thakur, will not participate in the upcoming third-round Ranji Trophy match against Haryana, which kicks off on Monday at the BKC complex. He is still in the process of recovering from an injury that also kept him out of the first two rounds. The Mumbai team has maintained the same lineup that achieved a victory over Himachal Pradesh by a bonus point in their last match, according to Cricinfo.

Injury Details and Recovery

Thakur sustained a fracture to his right middle finger during a training session prior to the tournament's opening match. Early assessments indicated he would miss at least the first two games. Although there were hopes within the Mumbai camp that he would be fit for the third match, he has not yet been cleared for play. He has been training with the team and was spotted with Suryakumar Yadav at a Major League Baseball event in Mumbai on Saturday. While recovering, Thakur will also take on commentary responsibilities for some T20Is in India's ongoing series against New Zealand.

Thakur's Recent Performance and Squad Changes

Thakur's last appearance was in the Duleep Trophy quarter-final for West Zone against North Zone in late August, where he took one wicket in 14 overs and scored 10 runs in his only batting innings. He did not bat in the second innings as North Zone won by 54 runs. Mumbai is currently facing challenges with injuries, as newly appointed vice-captain Ayush Mhatre is out with a hamstring injury, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is in New Zealand for Test matches following the ongoing 'A' series. To bolster the squad, opening batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi and all-rounder Suryansh Shedge have been added ahead of the second round. Despite these challenges, Mumbai leads Elite Group D with 14 points.
