Shapath Bharadwaj Leads Day 1 of Men's Trap at ISSF World Cup

The first day of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Almaty saw Shapath Bharadwaj leading the men's trap event with a total of 71 hits. Manisha Keer was the top Indian woman, finishing with a score of 69. Men's Trap Event Highlights

Shapath Bharadwaj showcased an impressive performance on the first day of the men's trap event at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun, held at the Asanov Shooting Club in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He achieved two flawless series and concluded with a total of 71 hits out of 75 attempts.


Despite starting strong with two perfect rounds, Shapath managed only 21 hits in his third series, which affected his overall standing. Vivaan Kapoor also excelled, scoring a perfect 25 in his second series after beginning with 22 hits, ultimately finishing the day with 23 in his final series. The third Indian competitor, Ahvar Rizvi, recorded scores of 23, 22, and 23, totaling 68 hits by the end of day one, according to a statement from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). Udaivir Singh Jaijee and Ali Aman Elahi, who were competing for ranking points, scored 71 and 66, respectively.


Women's Trap Event Overview

In the women's trap event, Manisha Keer also began her day strongly, achieving two consecutive series of 24 hits each. She concluded with a total score of 69 after hitting 21 targets in her third series, placing her in 17th position.


National Champion Neeru Dhanda finished the day in 21st place with scores of 23, 23, and 22, totaling 68 hits. Pragati Dubey, the third Indian participant, scored 65 (with rounds of 18, 23, and 24), landing her in 35th position. Competing for ranking points, Varsha Varman recorded a score of 61 (20, 20, 21), while Vidhi Singh achieved 62 hits (18, 21, 23).


The final 50 targets and the concluding rounds for both men's and women's events are scheduled for tomorrow.
