Shalini Singh Visits Workers in Haroula Village

In the midst of intense protests by workers in Noida, Shalini Singh, daughter of former MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, visited Haroula village. She met with laborers, particularly female employees, at their homes to listen to their concerns and promised to seek solutions.

Concerns Raised by Workers

During her visit, Shalini Singh observed the living conditions of families, noting that ten families were crammed into ten rooms with only one bathroom. She emphasized the need to liberate the country from its current economic challenges. Workers expressed their frustrations, stating they often lack accurate information regarding their salaries, provident fund, and ESIC deductions. They highlighted the oppressive nature of the contracting system.

What Workers Reported

  • Workers mentioned that during a recent two-day strike, their wages were deducted while they stayed home for safety, which they deemed completely unfair.

  • They alleged that they do not receive proper overtime pay and are often denied leave when needed. Unannounced absences lead to double deductions, resulting in financial exploitation.

  • Amid rising inflation, with increasing gas cylinder prices and school fees, their salaries have only seen a meager increase of 1000 to 1500 rupees over the past 9-10 years, making it extremely difficult to support their families.

  • Additionally, they reported issues such as poor-quality food in the company canteen, the necessity to walk long distances to reach work, and the lack of sick leave even when unwell.

Shalini Singh's Response

Shalini Singh stated that the situation represents a clear violation of workers' rights. She urged the administration and the relevant companies to take immediate action to address the workers' issues.
